Job Description:
General SummaryThe Patient Finance Insurance Specialist is responsible for verifying patient insurance eligibility as well as researching and confirming benefit plans.
CHCWM Team PhilosophyMust demonstrate ability to collaborate with TEAMS.

The major focus must be on doing what is best for our patients, physicians, and staff.
Must display honesty and integrity in every area.
Requirements Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
One year experience in hospital or physician registration, insurance verification or medical billing office.
Other:
Understanding of insurance plans, benefits, copays etc.
Research and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to speak with patients clearly and empathetically.
Working knowledge of computers and their applications to the related field.
Professional appearance.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Education/ExperienceAssociate degree in business, Accounting or Healthcare Organized, able to take initiative to meet goals and work independently.
GPMS and/or Onco EMR experiencePrimary Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Obtain and verify all insurance information for patients prior to patient appointment.
This information can be obtained by reviewing systems and communicating with patients.

Research patients benefits and deductibles in relation to their treatments.
Update GPMS and Onco EMR systems with verified information.
Works with patients and families to resolve insurance concerns by phone or in person.
Collaborates with other reimbursement and social work team members to understand financial impact and obtain patient assistance if needed.
Engages in continuous education and training to maintain skills, knowledge, and competency to complete functions of role.
Function as a team member by expanding his/her responsibilities as directed by management to facilitate optimal workflow within the cancer centers.
Communicates and interacts with peers and other departments in a manner that is viewed as having a positive effect on patient services and CHC staff morale.
Interacts effectively with patients/family members and demonstrates sensitivity regarding cultural diversity, age specific needs and confidentiality to HIPAA standards.
