Job Summary
Collaborates with senior leaders and business unit(s) on the development of the labor negotiations strategy, interpretation and administration of Collective Bargaining Agreements. Researches and analyzes current industry trends and recommends best practice methodology related to economic and non-economic issues during the course of the collective bargaining process. Utilizes Continuous Improvement (CI) tools to achieve business unit goals, objectives and key initiatives through the design and delivery of strategic solution. Represents the company during economic and non-economic labor negotiations. Provides work direction and coaching to Sr. Labor Relations and/or Labor Relations Specialists, as assigned.
Key Accountabilities
-Manages daily operations and develops a cohesive team driven by performance objectives, on-going coaching and feedback.
-Collaborates with senior leaders, business units and union officials to develop and maintain strategic relationships.
-Identifies, develops and implements strategies to address complex issues through the negotiation process, or by facilitating resolution through union/management partnering.
-Represents the company throughout the grievance and arbitration processes.
-Maintains confidential and sensitive work related information.
-Provides expert witness testimony during arbitration/legal proceedings and respond to NLRB charges.
-Serves as subject matter expert for the handling of all labor/management issues.
-Provides advice in the administration of disciplinary actions.
-Interprets and administers collective bargaining agreements, Corporate Policy & Procedures.
-Assist in responding to union organizing drives.
-Develops and delivers training to management, union and staff on the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
-Leads and/or participates in labor negotiations.
QualificationsQualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Human Resources, or related field required. Advanced degree in Human Resources, Labor/Industrial Relations or Juris Doctor (Law) preferred.
-Seven (7) years' experience in the areas of Human Resources Management, Labor and Employee Relations or Labor Law
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to prepare organize and deliver information in a clear and concise manner.
-Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance, and consulting to management on Labor Relations matters.
-Ability to research complex issues and develop position papers based upon qualitative and quantitative data.
-Thorough knowledge of NLRB regulations, employment law, HR practices and programs and the major provisions of labor agreements.
-Knowledge of Federal and State employment and labor laws and regulations.
-Highly-developed interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to interact with employees of all levels on complex, confidential and sensitive matters.
-Ability to develop high-level presentations incorporating the use of Continuous Improvement Tools.
-Proficiency in the use of Microsoft business applications and HR information systems (PeopleSoft, SAP preferred).
-Demonstrated ability to work independently and make decisions, influence, and negotiate on significant matters, and manage conflict resolution.
-Demonstrated ability to prioritize and produce results on key initiatives.
-Must obtain a recommended score on an online behavioral assessment.
