JOB TITLE: New Product Development Design Engineer

Summary:
This position provides technical engineering leadership to the development of innovative new products and requires confidence in managing multiple projects in a fast paced environment. The person must be comfortable working in a development role where there are emotional ups and downs that must be balanced with keeping appropriate people within the organization apprized of status or progress.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Develop innovative engineering and product design solutions to ensure the companys products are perceived as the best in the industry.
Create product specifications that meet customer and marketing requirements for function, utility and reliability.
Follow the robust design process to reduce the risk of design and product failures with the application of DFMEA, Analytical CAE tools, prototyping and design reviews.
Ensure products can be manufactured efficiently and effectively through the application and facilitation of DFM and DFA.
Establish testing parameters and analyze test results to insure products meet customer, certification and code requirements. Design experiments and analyze test data to evaluate potential design solutions.
Establish initial bills of material (BOM).
Participate in cross functional new product development projects and supports team members across disciplines to achieve project goals including timing, cost and product performance.
Stay current on industry knowledge and emerging manufacturing process innovations, new materials and other transferable technologies in order to bring creativity to the current product development process.
May provide engineering and product design support to continuous improvement projects, manufacturing engineering and process engineering if needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
BS in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field AND 8 or more years of hands on new product experience.
5 plus years of experience with design and manufacture of injection molded products.
Experience with glass manufacturing a plus.
Project and Time Management Comfortable in a fast paced environment with competing priorities. Able to manage multiple projects at various stages of the development cycle simultaneously.
Engineering Quality Advanced Quality process knowledge and understanding. Practical experience with DOE, DFMEA and capability studies. Is able to apply knowledge gained to improve E&D design standards and processes.
