Summary:
Management Business Solutions (MBS) is seeking a Controls Engineer for a manufacturing client in Grand Rapids, MI. This individual will work with maintenance, engineering, and production personnel to conceive, design, program, troubleshoot, and validate the machine processes for self-manufactured and purchased equipment.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the maintenance computer and controls software are working correctly and that installation, CDs, and licensing are maintained
Documents projects and communicate details appropriate personnel
Develop a machine bill of materials and coordinate the procurement of these materials with the purchasing department
Coordinate with Maintenance Technicians to update drawings, manuals, sequence of operation, PLC and HMI programs, etc., on existing machines that do not have proper documentation
Attend technical training classes and pass this knowledge along to peers, interns, and/or electrical apprentices
Participate in and support lean initiatives, continuous improvement, and problem solving events
Identify and attempt to eliminate types of waste
Adhere to, and support, all company policies including ISO, TS16949, and Safety regulations
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or related field required
Experience in machine repair for metal stamping, spot/resistance welding, robotic welding, grinding, and/or finishing equipment
Experience troubleshooting and performing maintenance on electrical equipment
Ability to read, follow, and understand electrical, mechanical, hyudrauilic, and pneumatic drawings, blueprints, schematics, code requirements, service manuals and specifications
Experience with PLC programming; AllenBradley and/or Rockwell (RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5, RSLogix 5000, and Panelbuild32) preferred
Experience with servo systems, variable speed drive controls, and AC and DC motors
