Mechanical Design Engineer

Company Name:
Career Development Partners
The ideal Mechanical Design Engineer will be self-driven and have extensive experience in taking design prints and proofing them for manufacturability. You will need to have the ability to do FEA's. You should also have experience with design software like SolidWorks or an ancillary 3-D package. You will need to have experience designing equipment to be manufactured or assembled with an emphasis on heavy equipment and welding equipment. (Cycle time is less of a concern, the designs are lifting heavy loads 1000 lbs and up is typical- so think heavier fabrication, multi-pass, ideally with a strong awareness of welding processes.) You will also be involved with the post mortem of the entire manufacturing process to ensure they are a lean manufacturer, look for future design enhancements, participate in R&D exercises as it relates to the project, etc.

Growth/ Advancement Potential:
This is a high growth market segment -sales are expected to double and triple in the next 2 to 3 years! One year ago an ancillary facility had 1 engineer, now they have 5 with a future vision of as many as 15 engineers, 2 or 3 of which will be headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI. You can be integral in helping shape this growth. They have to have a manger that is willing to work! They don't have managers that sit in an office that have assistants, that's not what they are about. This role will have no immediate reports but they will be hiring a detailer for this person in the near future. They are a very flat organization not a lot of levels. Need a doer- roll up your sleeves type.
