Currently, Meijer is looking for a Energy Systems Manager. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for providing corporate leadership and problem resolution in mechanical systems with a strong focus on energy management within the retail environment. This position must be familiar with and have a strong understanding of building systems, refrigeration, and HVAC. This position leads the development of performance standards and monitoring and control systems for those systems, under direction of the Energy Manager. This position develops and provides corporate communications necessary to lead all activities related to the engineering disciplines under their charge.
Key responsibilities include:
Provides goals and guidance to the Design Engineers for the evaluation of new technologies, development of energy cost and use reduction projects.
Development and implementation of corporate energy performance standards and engineering measurements within the energy systems area to meet the energy department goals.
Manage energy supply sourcing process for nat. gas and electricity in regulated and non-regulated markets
Develops and manages the department processes to document, share, and enforce specifications, performance standards and benchmarks through written, electronic and oral communications. Works with peer managers to integrate these within partner departments and the broader organizational processes and work plans. Takes action and calls attention to deficiencies when standards or performance criteria are compromised. Develops solutions to communication and process gaps identified.
Develop and manage in house engineering resources necessary to meet department goals. Provides technical and personal developmental guidance to design engineers.
Develop engineering plans and work with peer managers to standardize the fleet mechanical systems through retrofit, remodel and new construction processes.
Oversee and develop the Remote Monitoring System into a solution to measure system performance and report exceptions against engineering performance standards.
Assist with operational diagnostics work and review existing systems to ensure systems operate efficiently and with good fleet management practices.
Proactively develops and maintains communication relationships within the company to report on department results, identify problems and develop solutions before issues reach a critical level.
Provides leadership appropriate for the area of expertise. Provides support to all managed properties on system energy and operational performance issues.

Bachelor''s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
5-8 years of practical experience in an engineering discipline

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required

Planning and leadership skills for effective management in a large cross functional office setting are essential
