Narcotics Room Technician

Performs compliance tasks and the related activities in support of the DEA and controlled medication dispensing process.
Fill all Narcotic prescriptions for all facilities as directed (inclusive of all controlled STAT labels/prescriptions)
Responsible for checking perpetual inventory and accuracy
Run Reports
Responsible for returns of Narcotics Room prescriptions, have cleared before returning to inventory or discard as instructed
Check all orders for accuracy, log into correct books, in appropriate drugs received or discrepancies checked through PIC
Handles inventory, responsible for all reports, discrepancies and missing product
Responsible for re-packaging of drugs for workload
Responsible for all copies of documents necessary to keep Narcotics Room compliant with all DEA and Federal laws and regulations
Responsible for maintaining Narcotics Room cleanliness and compliance
Assist Picking Technicians as needed when additional help is required on the floor
Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA.

Minimum (Required): /(must be met in order to perform the job at the required level)/
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Pharmacy Technician Certification required
Knowledge of and experience with controlled drug packaging procedures is required
Knowledge of DEA and Federal laws for CII - CV prescriptions is required
Preferred: /(if above and beyond the minimum required)/
Fluent in all aspects of the English Language
Good oral communication skills
Ability to have strong communication with Dispensing Pharmacists
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, facility staff members, and others within organization
Ability to write routine correspondence and reports
Knowledge of basic math skills is required.
Excellent skills in usage of fax machine, computer software, copier, and word-processing
Physical Demands: May sit, stand, stoop, bend and walk intermittently during the day. May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day. May be necessary to work extended hours as needed. Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required. May need to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds on occasion. Visual acuity to see and read fine prints. Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to hear normal voice sounds. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
