Assistant United States Attorney

The district is soliciting applications for a Criminal Division Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) position in the Grand Rapids, Michigan office. Criminal Division assignments in this district may cover the full range of federal offenses, forfeiture, collections and responses to collateral attacks and appeals. Criminal Division AUSAs are responsible for substantial legal research and writing, both at the trial and appellate levels. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any jurisdiction), and have at least one year of post-J.D legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required. Preferred

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
