Summary

This position is in Customer Service Dispatch and Scheduling within Energy Operations Services. It involves the scheduling, routing and dispatching of Electric Meter Operations (EMO) and/or Electric Service Workers (ESW) utilizing SAP, Service Suite, and ARCOS systems. The position requires daily direct communication with EMO/ESW service workers and Field Leaders, Electric Dispatchers, and Designers so excellent communication skills are mandatory. People in this position must frequently work with various internal departments including, but not limited to, the Business Center, Billing, Revenue Recovery, Call Center, Smart Energy Operations, and the Meter Technology Center so the applicant should demonstrate an understanding of these operations.

An individual in this position will perform task-based work such as order creation, availability management, etc., manage projects, and coordinate jobs with customers/electricians, field leaders, service workers, designers, and other scheduling groups to meet targets, commitments, and provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Teamwork is a vital part of this position as it is a requirement to provide back-up for other EMO/ESW Technical Specialists.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be required to manage multiple projects, develop solutions to complex problems, meet deadlines and targets, and make independent decisions in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to handle work of a complex and changing nature, and keep others informed of progress.
  • This position will require an individual to be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are able to demonstrate a working knowledge of company information systems including ARCOS, SAP, Service Suite, and SharePoint.

Requirements/ Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Have 2-5 or more years of technical experience. Scheduling experience is preferred.
  • A working proficiency in SAP and MS Office applications such as Word and Excel.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; show an ability to think through and express ideas logically.
  • Must demonstrate an ability and desire to function as a part of a team; be able to coordinate and deal effectively with a wide variety of other employees to complete planning or resolve problems.
  • Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation and work various hours for storm duty along with occasional weekends
  • Demonstration of an outstanding attendance record is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver s license.

Essential Functions

  • Performs technical support functions and more complex tasks including establishing workload and organizing and conducting assignments according to deadlines.
  • Sets up tech support systems including record maintenance, data submission, and project management.
  • Provides backup department support.
  • Prepares reports and tech support material as directed from time to time.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Performs or establishes procedures for tech support functions and actions including records, tracking of information, maintaining logs/spreadsheet, and other similar technical support.
  • Under general direction, prepares special or one-time reports, summaries, or replies to inquiries, selecting relevant information from a variety of sources such as reports, documents, correspondence, other areas of the Company, etc.
  • Ensures that requests for action or information are relayed to appropriate staff members; ensures that information is furnished in a timely manner; decides whether a higher authority should be notified of important or emergency matters.
  • Periodically evaluates process and program effectiveness and takes action to maintain continuous improvement.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures and contributes to the safety of co-workers and the general public.
  • Participates as an active technical support team member by contributing to program development and organization planning.
  • Produce detailed and complex engineering design drawings utilizing computer-aided drafting software within a confined time period supportive of a production-oriented role.
  • Interpret substation equipment wiring diagrams and SCADA point lists to appropriately test substation intelligent electronic devices and record the test results.
  • Operate a computer terminal and utilize necessary software applications.
  • Produce supporting engineering design documents through various computer applications.
  • Receive and support field calls to address questions with design packages and assist in troubleshooting.
  • Travel to company substations, power plants, HVD or distribution lines or customer facilities to visually inspect present status of facilities to support producing designs or to perform field tests to best determine equipment to be utilized in designs.
  • On occasion, wire panels with prototype equipment.
  • Have aptitude and ability to learn and perform the duties of the job including learning new designs reflecting new equipment.
  • Successfully be able to evaluate design alternatives to determine safest and most economical designs.
  • Willing and able to follow instruction, assist in training of co-workers, and cooperate with other employees and customers.
  • Performs responsibilities in a manner that clearly shows effective communication and cooperation and that promotes open exchange of information, respect, high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Regular attendance is expected.

Hours and Travel

  • Meet travel requirements of the position.
  • Work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.

This position will be remote/virtual until it s deemed safe to return to the office. At that time, the selected candidate may choose to remain virtual or sit in an office/service center across the state of Michigan.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
