) The K5 Chevy Blazer is the new hot classic SUV -Hagerty, January 2019 Motor Trend told the Blazer story this way:
Ford had the Bronco.
Jeep had the CJ.
Even International Harvester-the tractor company-had the Scout.
And General Motors hadnothing? Into that sport-utility vacuum, the Chevrolet K5 Blazer was born.
With it, GM created a 4?-4 that was both a direct response to the existing spectrum of SUVs and yet also apart from it.
The key difference was size:
Unlike its would-be rivals, the Blazer was based on the automaker's successful full-size pickup truck.
That cost-saving measure allowed it both to come to market quickly and to deliver greater capability than its competition.
The market reaction? The Chevrolet K5 Blazer was an instant success, and it wasn't long before the vehicle dominated SUV sales.
Offered here is a second-year, highly optioned Blazer in orange with a white roof over black.
Its superb original condition and extremely low mileage make it a standout, investment-grade Blazer.
(The full list of factory-optioned equipment-including power steering and air conditioning--can be found in a photograph of the Blazer's build sticker included in the gallery.
) Showing just over 36,604 miles on its odometer (fewer than 720 miles per-year since new), the truck is in many ways, a virtually brand-new 1970 vehicle.
Outside, the factory-original orange and white paint finish is perfectly smooth across all body panels and displays consistent gloss.
The look is handsome, classic, and completely stock.
The chrome grille, chrome front and rear bumpers, and chrome body trim (including twin rectangular side mirrors) is all in excellent, pristine condition, free of damage or even minor wear indications.
Body-side and tailgate trim incorporates woodgrain.
(To best assess the quality of the paint and chrome finish, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.
) Cabin glass and lighting lenses are similarly without flaws.
The white fiberglass cargo-area top (auxiliary roof in Chevrolet speak) shows no wear or discoloration; it nicely complements the bright-orange body paint.
Badging is complete and the look is entirely:
stock--from the blue-bowtie hood emblem upfront to the Chevrolet letters set in woodgrain trim on the tailgate, and including fender emblems denoting the model and engine, separate 4-Wheel Drive front-fender emblems, and the Chevrolet lettering in the grille.
Wheels feature chrome trim rings and center caps (in the rear displaying 4X4 identification, while the fronts are adjustable Warn manual-locking hubs).
Stock 15-inch steel wheels are mounted with LT-sized, Michelin LTX M/S outline-white-letter off-road tires (with a full-size matching spare in the cargo area).
Inside, the Blazer's door trim and the dashboard are metal, painted in the same copper color as the truck's exterior, reflecting its pickup-truck lineage.
The full instrumentation is set in a chrome-trimmed black panel.
Graphic markings on the gauges are crisp; instrument needles are unfaded.
An upgraded Realistic audio head unit is fitted in the factory-radio location (above the slide-lever HVAC controls) with air-conditioning vents and a large glove box completing the dash.
The original, black, blue- bowtie-branded steering wheel is in place with the shift lever for the automatic transmission mounted on the column.
(The four-wheel-drive transfer-case selector lever is floor-mounted.
) Seat upholstery on the front buckets and rear folding armchair bench is black vinyl.
