) America's other ponycar is high on the 'gotta-have' list.
?EURMotor Trend, 1967-69 Chevrolet Camaro Buyer's Guide, July 2006 Anyone who's ever owned a 1967-1969 Camaro will smile when telling you stories about his car--and a look of wistful regret comes over his face when he explains why he had to sell it.
For many, the Camaro is the one that got away.
Not only was the body style unique, but it came to market with something for everyone:
value-minded sixes, mid-level V-8s, and knock-your-socks-off, take-'em-to-the-track small- and big-blocks.
This is a big reason why Camaros are now so highly sought and why the legend continues to grow.
Bottom Line:
One of America's greatest ponycars ever.
Offered here in Butternut Yellow over black vinyl (under a black vinyl roof) is a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS 396 coupe, a beautifully maintained, survivor example that's still true to the marque's heritage, distinctiveness, and inherent appeal.
Delivered new at Harvey Chevrolet of Radford, Virginia, the car's odometer currently shows 90,095 miles, just 700 miles per-year on average.
The Camaro's factory window sticker and a copy of the car's build sheet together listing all standard and optional equipment-and documenting the car as a true, highly optioned SS-are included in the sale and can be viewed in the accompanying gallery.
The car's exterior, factory-applied Butternut Yellow paint has been well-maintained and displays excellent gloss and color across the entire car.
There are no dents or dings on the body, and the panel fit and alignment is excellent.
The black vinyl top, lower-front-valance and rear-deck-lid spoilers, and ice tray hood add visual interest and display the same flawless condition.
The blacked-out front grille with hidden headlights and front horizontal black rally stripe are like-new.
(To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.
) All chrome trim, SS emblems and all other badging (including the 396 front-fender emblems), lighting lenses and cabin glass are all excellent.
Original silver-painted steel rally wheels (with Chevrolet Motor Division hubcaps and chrome trim rings) are mounted with period-correct, thin-red-stripe tires; both wheels and tires are free of curb rash or other damage.
Inside the car, every surface is free of damage or even signs of abrasion.
Horizontally pleated black vinyl seat upholstery has been extremely well-maintained, as has the door trim.
Black carpeting is protected with Camaro-branded rubber floor mats.
The woodgrain-trimmed dashboard is stock and complete with no modifications or added equipment.
The factory-optioned, 3-spoke, brushed-metal trimmed sport steering wheel with a red-white-and-blue-trimmed bowtie emblem center badge is in place, as is the original AM-FM radio.
The full complement of gauges-including the 120-mph speedometer and 5,500-rpm-redline tachometer as well as four engine-monitoring gauges forward on the center console-are correctly in place.
The grab-handle-style shifter for the automatic transmission is mounted on the console, which features wood-veneer trim matching that on the center stack.
Optional (and very rare) factory-optioned stereo controls are on the console to the rear of the shifter.
Other factory options included air con.
