) Pro Street Evolution:
The history of hot-rodding ?EUR Motor Trend, August 2013 David Freiburger:
Pro Street must be drag racing-oriented and have wheel tubs under the back end that allow for oversized, very wide tires to be fit under the stock body.
That's fact.
As for my opinion, a Pro Street is typically also stock bodied and ostensibly street driven.
When the style originated in the mid to late '70s, it was inspired by the NHRA drag racing Pro Stock class of the mid '70s, hence where the 'Pro' in Pro Street came from.
Scott Sullivan's Nova that debuted at the 1979 Car Craft Street Machine Nationals is often cited as the first Pro Street car, but the look was used earlier on street-driven cars that used actual Pro Stock suspension setups, such as Steve Lisk's Hemi '71 Challenger.
Offered here is a 1994 Chevrolet C/1500 short-bed pickup in red over gray.
Restored in a Pro-Street manner to be cosmetically and mechanically exemplary, the truck has a total of 169,617 miles showing on its odometer, fewer than 6,100 miles per-year on average since new.
The exterior non-metallic red finish displays a high gloss and uniformly smooth surface across the entire truck, including the high-rise, cowl-induction hood and shaved look rear with the bumper cleanly removed.
There are no dings, dents, or damage to any of the truck's exterior sheet metal.
(To best assess the quality of the paint and trim finishes, please be sure to view the close-up photographs of the car in the accompanying gallery.
) The chrome finish on the front bumper and grille is pristine; a black chin spoiler is mounted below the bumper.
Mirror caps are painted in the body color; door and tailgate handles are in black.
Overall look of the truck is clean with no graphics or extraneous trim added.
Cabin glass (including darkly tinted side windows) is clear and free of cracks, as are all lighting lenses.
The cargo box is protected with a foldable-rollable MostPlus cover and Bushwacker hard bed-liner; a racing fuel cell is mounted in the center of the cargo bed.
Weld Racing 8-hole, dish-style, polished alloy, 15-inch wheels are mounted with 235/70 Performance Radial G/T tires in front, and 235/65 Mickey Thompson Street Eliminator racing tires in back.
The truck's gray interior retains the stock look with added performance-related upgrades.
Two-tone gray door trim panels in pristine condition incorporate stock power door and window controls.
Upholstery on the bench seat with foldable center armrest is stock gray textured fabric showing no significant wear.
Gray floor carpeting and the cabin headliner are in similar condition.
The original black Chevrolet-branded steering wheel frames the stock analog instrument cluster.
The shift lever for the automatic transmission is mounted on the steering column.
An AutoMeter SportComp Monster programmable tachometer with upshift light is mounted atop the dashboard, with AutoMeter coolant-temperature and oil-pressure gauges incorporated in the dash.
(Please view the close-up photography in the gallery to assess the excellent condition of the Chevy's interior surfaces.
) Opening the hood reveals the 468-cubic-inch performance V8 resplendent in Chevrolet-branded chrome valve covers, high-rise manifold, open air cleaner, QuickFuel 4-barrel carburetor, and performance exhaust headers.
The spotless engine bay also includes an aluminum radiator.
